Growth Stories

Autumn - Finding My Place

Preschool child, Avery

Avery

Little by little, I knew our routines and felt ready to join in.

In September, I stepped into Braineer for the first time. My teacher showed me around—where to put my belongings, find the bathroom, and wash my hands.

When I missed Mom, my teacher drew a little red heart on my palm, “This heart reminds you that Mommy loves you and is thinking of you,” she said. Looking at it helped me feel safe and comforted.

I shared stories about my family, made new friends, and began tracing my name.

In Letterland, I met Annie Apple and Clever Cat! Outside, we played in the crisp autumn air and noticed leaves changing colour.

Leaves, twigs, and other natural treasures became materials for my own creations, while apples and pumpkins sparked new discoveries.

We talked about being thankful and dressed up for Halloween.

Little by little, I knew our routines and felt ready to join in. This was becoming my classroom, with my friends and a little place just for me.

Winter - Discovering My World and My Courage

Preschool child, Matthew

With each adventure, I was learning to share my ideas, listen to others, and try something new.

As the days grew colder, my questions kept growing. How are ice and snow different? Where do animals go in winter? We explored outdoors, painted with ice, and moved our bodies in winter games.

Our classroom kept changing, too. How did our teachers always make it look so beautiful? When I looked closely, I could find my artwork and my friends’ creations woven into the decorations. We had helped make this wonderful place, and we felt proud!

December brought our Winter Concert: we practised together, then stepped onto the stage to perform for our families. Seeing familiar faces cheering us on helped us feel brave.

Next came dinosaurs, fossils, and dinosaur eggs, followed by cars, boats, planes, and community helpers.

With each adventure, I was learning to share my ideas, listen to others, and try something new.

Spring - A Bigger World

to Explore

We helped care for it and checked every day for changes. Finally, a butterfly emerged, opened its wings, and took flight!

This spring, my imagination travelled from the ocean all the way to outer space! I created sea creatures, learned why their homes need clean water, and imagined boarding our classroom rocket to explore stars and planets.

When Mad Science visited, their dry ice demonstration filled the air with swirling fog—and filled us with excitement!

Outside, I became a nature detective, noticing changing weather, exploring gardens, searching for insects, and watching birds.

Then a tiny new friend arrived in our classroom: a butterfly chrysalis. We helped care for it and checked every day for changes. Finally, a butterfly emerged, opened its wings, and took flight! Watching that transformation brought our learning about life cycles to life.

With every discovery, I grew more patient, more observant, and more eager to share what I noticed.

Summer - Look How Much I Have Grown

Preschool child, Max

We revisited letters and words that now felt familiar—a little reminder of how far I had come.

By June, I was ready for an animal adventure!

Stories, sensory play, and movement games took us through grasslands, jungles, deserts, and rivers.

I created my own animal mask, moved like different animals, and enjoyed outdoor games with my friends.

We revisited letters and words that now felt familiar—a little reminder of how far I had come.

Then came our Graduation Ceremony. Our classroom became a gallery filled with our artwork and discoveries, and we stepped onto the stage to perform for our families. I proudly showed them what I had made. Some parents smiled through happy tears as they saw how much we had grown.

Looking back, I had learned to share my ideas, work with friends, and try again when something felt tricky.

From that little red heart in my palm to this joyful celebration, I had grown more confident, more independent, and ready for my next adventure.
